Debra Svitill portrayed a Flu Victim in The Walking Dead.

What role/roles have you had in The Walking Dead?

Debra Svitil

I don't really have a role...wish I did. I only worked on it one day as an extra.

Which episode have you appeared in?

Season 4 episode 3. You'll hear and see me in the promo coughing blood. Everyone was really nice on that set and complimented me on how disgusting I was!

Can you confirm your characters fate?

I don't think she will be seen again. She was coughing up blood. That was the only scene they booked me for.

Did your character have a name or backstory which was not shown/cut? If not, did you create one for yourself?

No. She was just to emphasize how bad the illness was becoming. I enjoyed getting to do it but I don't think she has a story to tell.

Did you watch the show or read the graphic novel prior to your role?

No. I'm ashamed to admit. But that may also be why they called me. They knew I wouldn't be star struck on set since I had no idea who any one was.

Extra2 (Isolation) (1)

What is the atmosphere like on the set of such a serious, dramatic show?

I came in late on a Friday so cast and crew had already been working for hours by the time I arrived. They were very focused. The director seemed to have a clear vision of how he wanted the scene to look. Everyone was professional but also very friendly and happy when we wrapped because it was the end of the work week.

Do you have any interesting or funny stories from your time on the set?

In order to cough up blood on cue, the makeup guy had to fill my mouth with red corn syrup. The assistant director wanted to hear me coughing before they showed me spewing. I had to try to keep the syrup in my mouth and make coughing noises and then he'd yell 'Blood" and I'd spew it out making sure it came out into the light. Luckily, we got it in 3 takes.

It was really fun in a weird way and as I said the crew were as nice as they could be to me.

Are you currently working on anything else interesting that you can reveal?

I've been a stand in on Dumb and Dumber To. A witch on The Originals (I think that was Episode 6) and on Nov 30 you can catch me as Sonja Bamberg in The Family That Slays Together on Bio channel.
